Introduce work, take a commission

If you meet companies who need software built but you do not build it yourself, introduce them. You take a commission on what they spend and carry none of the delivery.

How the commission works

Commission is a percentage of what the client actually pays us, net of taxes and any third-party costs passed through. It is paid on money received, not on contract value, because a contract that is never paid is worth nothing to either of us.

An introduction that keeps its trail, so the fee is not an argument later.
  • A percentage of amounts actually received from the client
  • Paid on the first twelve months of that client's spending
  • Paid within thirty days of the month in which we were paid
  • No cap on a single introduction, and no minimum deal size

How an introduction is protected

You register the introduction by email before we speak to the company. That registration is acknowledged in writing and protects you for twelve months, whether or not the first conversation leads anywhere. If they come back in month nine, it is still yours.

What counts as an introduction

A named contact at a company, with their agreement to be introduced, and a sentence about what they need. A list of company names is not an introduction. Neither is a form filled in on our website by someone who found it themselves.

  • A named person, who knows the introduction is happening
  • Some context about what they are trying to do
  • Registered by email before the first conversation
  • Not already an active client or an existing conversation of ours

What you are not asked to do

Nothing after the introduction. You do not scope, quote, manage or chase payment. You are welcome to stay on the thread and many referrers do, but it changes nothing about the commission.

Questions we get asked

It is set in the referral agreement and depends on whether you are simply introducing or also helping scope the work. We share the figure at the first conversation, before anything is signed, so nobody invests time in a programme whose numbers do not suit them.

Then the introduction does not qualify, and we will tell you immediately rather than after a proposal. This is why registration happens before the first conversation. In practice it is rare, and when it happens we say who contacted whom and when, so you can see the basis.

Within thirty days of the end of the month in which the client's payment cleared. If a client pays in instalments, you are paid on each instalment as it arrives. You get a statement each month showing what was invoiced, what was received and what is due to you.

Not for the same client at the same time, because the two models pay differently and mixing them gets confusing quickly. You can refer some clients and white-label others. Which applies is decided per client at the point of registration.
