Marketing scoped to what you can measure

We run search, paid and social for companies selling considered purchases. The work is scoped around what can be attributed, because a channel you cannot measure is a channel you cannot improve.

Which channel fits what

Channels are not interchangeable and picking wrong is the usual reason budget disappears. Search captures demand that already exists. Paid buys attention you have not earned yet. Social builds recognition slowly and converts late.

Reach narrows to fit, fit narrows to pipeline. The bars are the channels feeding it.
  • Search: people already looking. Slow to start, compounds, survives a pause
  • Paid: immediate, controllable, stops dead when the budget stops
  • Social: builds familiarity, rarely closes on its own, supports the other two
  • Email: the only channel you own outright, and the cheapest per reply

What we set up before spending anything

Attribution built after a campaign is guesswork. These go in first, in week one, whatever the channel.

  • Every form tagged with its source and landing page
  • Conversion tracking that records an enquiry, not a page view
  • A single reporting view covering all channels together
  • Agreed definitions of a lead, so nobody argues about the count later

What we report

Cost per enquiry by channel, what each channel contributed to enquiries that closed, and which pages people landed on before getting in touch. Impressions and reach appear as context. They are not the point and we do not lead with them.

What sits outside the scope

Each of these is real work and is quoted separately rather than assumed.

  • Ad spend itself, which is paid directly to the platform
  • Photography, video production and design beyond ad formats
  • Long-form content production, which is scoped per piece
  • Sales follow-up, which has to happen at your end

Questions we get asked

Enough to gather data in a reasonable window, which for most considered purchases means a few hundred enquiries before conclusions are safe. Spending too little for too long produces numbers that look meaningful and are not. We would rather run one channel properly for three months than three channels thinly.

You do. We work inside accounts registered to your company, with us added as users. That means the history, the audiences and the learning stay with you if the engagement ends. Agencies that run clients inside their own accounts keep the asset, and it is worth checking that wherever you go.

Partly, and we are explicit about the limits. Last click is easy and misleading. We tag every form with its landing page and first source, which covers most of it, but someone who saw an ad, searched your name a week later and then called will show as search. We report the assumption alongside the number.

We say so and stop it. Every channel gets a defined test window and a threshold agreed at the start, so ending one is a planned outcome rather than an argument. Budget moves to whatever is producing enquiries. Continuing to fund a channel because it is in the contract is how retainers lose their value.
